The School of Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the area of Metabolic Engineering and Biosystems at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses.
The successful candidate will be expected:
Applicants must have a degree in Chemical, Biological or Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in a related discipline with a research focus in metabolic engineering or modelling of biological systems. It is also desirable a Postdoctoral stay with a scientific group of excellence related to research in the area, and several publications in high impact journals related with Metabolic Engineering topics. The applicant must be able to work collaboratively.
Applicants must demonstrate potential for excellence and a strong vocation for all aspects of academic life, be highly motivated to continuously improve their teaching skills, have a genuine interest in getting involved with our graduate programs (specially the PhD program) and be able to develop and maintain an active research agenda.
The successful candidate will also be expected to create new undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g. Systems Metabolic Engineering) and teach traditional courses in Chemical and Biological Engineering (e.g. Biological Engineering Design, Transport Phenomena, Bioseparations). Candidates do not need to know Spanish at the time of applying, but should be prepared to learn the language well enough to teach in the short term.

Once the complete set of application materials has been received, the applicant will be contacted within two months and informed whether or not his/her application has been accepted for further consideration. If this initial screening is successful, the candidate will be asked to give a lecture on his/her current research topics and attend interviews with faculty members of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses, the Dean of the School of Engineering and the Selection Committee.
