Science and technology have a central role in the world. For the future of humanity, it is crucial to advocate in-depth and critical journalistic coverage of the highest quality. The 11th World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ2019) strives to strengthen the professional, ethical and technical skills of science journalists.
Built around four themes the World Conference program will deliver pre-conference workshops, long-term projects, lab lunches, field trips, networking events, sessions, etc. aiming to improve the quality of media reporting on science & technology on a global scale.
Out of a total of 48 applications from 29 countries our two jury members, Wolfgang Goede and Federico Kukso, had the difficult task to select the five winning scholars that will attend the Kavli Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo (1-6 September 2018).
Meet the five journalists from Colombia, Mexico, China, South Africa and Australia/Japan who will go to Oslo to take part in and report on the Award Ceremony.
Couldn’t make it to the conference? In an effort to share WCSJ2017 with colleagues around the world, the Conference organizers recorded 18 session videos that are embedded on the website.
Closed captions in Brazilian Portuguese, French and Spanish will be added to videos in coming weeks so that the sessions can be watched around the world.
WCSJ2017 Welcomed Attendees from 74 Countries
Representatives from more than 70 countries attended the 10th World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ2017) in San Francisco in October 2017. More than 1,300 science journalists and writers from as far away as Australia, Argentina, Mongolia and Zimbabwe and as near as Mexico and Canada came together to hone their skills and share their experiences at the conference.
Thank you to all participants for being part of this vibrant experience and gathering. We especially would like to express our gratitude to all our volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for making WCSJ2017 such a successful event!
