Post-doctoral position in virus-cell interaction and real-time microscopy

Marylène Mougel’s lab at IRIM-CNRS Montpellier, France

We are looking for an outstanding, highly-motivated candidate to join our team to develop a new project entitled: « Real time imaging of single viral RNA translation: understanding further how murine leukemia viruses (MLV) hijack the cellular pathways! ». Understanding how retroviruses manipulate the cellular functions to replicate is crucial to design anti-viral therapies. Research project will aim to set up advanced technologies of real-time fluorescence microscopy (SunTag, SunRISE) at the scale of single molecule of viral RNA to understand MLV expression in cells. The project will be realized with the collaboration of Philippe Pierre’s lab in Marseille who have developed these techniques.

Candidates bringing expertise in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis are particularly welcome to apply.

Candidate requirements

  • PhD thesis
  • Good publication record (at least one first-author publication in a reputable peer-reviewed journal)
  • High motivation to excel in Science
  • Curious and open mind
  • Strong background in cell and molecular biology and fluorescence microscopy
  • Prior research experience on virology would be an asset, but is not essential

We offer a stimulating environment in an international research group, on an exciting interdisciplinary campus. Please visit our website for more information on our group, research interests and publications: http://www.irim.cnrs.fr/
