The Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics at the Universidad Mayor seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position, Santiago, Chile

The Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics at the Universidad Mayor (CGB-UM) seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position to work in the area of early evolution of biological/bioorganic systems and its role in the emergence of life. The project will be developed through the lens of coevolution of life and environment as we understand it from early Earth and how this can be projected to formulate strategies and priorities for the search for habitability on exoplanets and moons (astrobiology).

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. degree in life sciences, genome biology, bioinformatics, astrobiology, chemistry or related disciplines. A strong background in biochemistry is essential. Candidates must have a proven track record of high-quality scientific publications and good communication skills. Command of the English language is required.

The research will be carried out at the Fundación Ciencia y Vida, Santiago and CGB-UM. The latter hosts a total of 13 members engaged in collaborative research in genetics/genomics health, systems biology of model organisms, environmental microbiology and eco-genomics, applied genetics, computational genomics and bioinformatics. The center provides state-of-the- art research facilities with access to equipment for DNA sequencing, plant and animal production, high performance computing, advanced microscopy services, among others.
