Symposium on respiratory virus infections

Respiratory viruses are a large group of pathogens that include paramyxoviruses and pneumoviruses. Recent reports have highlighted new mechanisms of direct cell-to-cell spread for some members of these families, including measles virus and human metapneumovirus. These mechanisms allow the viruses to spread more rapidly and efficiently. In this symposium we will discuss what we have learned about respiratory viruses cell-to-cell spread and why this is advantageous for the virus life cycle.
